Trouble or Questions About Joining The Forums?

The forums here at BathBands are the hub of the site. If you've never used forums before, think of them like a notice board in a shop window. You can 'pin' your question or advert to the board for everyone else to see.

You can also answer other people's posts. Maybe they're advertising for a new singer. Perhaps it'll be a question about recording drums, and you happen to be a whiz in the studio. That's why the forums are here ... to get help and help others :)

If you're eager to get started now read this post on how to join. If you want to know a little more about forums and the terminology used, read on...

When you make a post, try to limit the post to a single topic, especially if you're asking a question. If you have 2 questions it may be worth creating 2 separate posts. Not only does this make it more manageable for people to answer, but it makes it easier if other people are searching the forum for an answer to their problem.

It helps if you give your post a good title. "Help, I'm going crazy here!!!" is a bit rubbish, whereas "Having problems setting up midi" is much more descriptive and likely to result in a decent response.

If you post a topic and others reply to that topic, the chances are all the posts will have a common thread. In fact a string of related posts is known as a thread (genius!!). Here is an example of a thread.

Once you've joined and have logged in, you can create a new post using the "POST" button, and reply to a thread you are reading by using the "REPLY" button. See, it's not that hard after all ;-)

There are not many rules here. We ask that you are polite and friendly. Being cheeky is fine, but do remember, not everyone has the same sense of humour! If you're being a bit tongue-in-cheek, you can always use a "smiley icon" to let others know.

Forum-etiquette dictates that you do not cross-post. Cross posting is when you post the same topic in multiple forums. Crossposts will be deleted by the forum moderators. You will also not spam - and I think we all know what that means already! I run these forums at personal monetary cost (and with added nagging from my girlfriend who suggests I may love BathBands more than her). I have gone out of my way to provide a place where people can post and have fun. You will find a forum for your particular needs, so please post in the most relevant place. Sometimes a post does fall in to more than one category, and in those cases it's just about acceptable to post in more than one forum - there should be one main post, and the other post should simply contain a link to the main one.

Well, that's about it! The main thing to remember is have fun, and if you see something that could be improved upon, or features that can be added, give me a shout :)
Cheers,
Neil
