Musical Lab Rats Wanted :)

Over the next few weeks Tim (a researcher based at Bath University) needs people to help evaluate a new prototype system for creating music over the net, and needs as many musicians as possible.

It will only take a couple of hours max and is "guaranteed to be fun and thought provoking".

Check out his post here

A new way to sell your music?

If you're an artist looking to make money from selling your songs you may want to check out this thread.

This site is in 'alpha' at the moment (ie lots of bugs to sort out) but it has a really exciting business model - you should keep your eye on it!

this is what makes it all worthwhile :)

Quote: "I found a drummer. And after 6months of looking it only took me two weeks to find 3 interested drummers on this site!!! All of whom were excellent! Amazing.
thanks again

Annie,
Amber Solaire"

I'm always interested to hear about such things. If the site has been a help to you, take a moment to let me know :)

New Gig Calendar [Beta]

The more eagle-eyed visitors to this site may have noticed the new link at the top of the page. The Gig-Calendar is still only in beta, but hopefully it will offer users a nice graphical way to view gig listings and more (there are quite a few new features planned ... just as soon as I get more free time!)

Any registered member of BathBands will soon be able to add their own gigs to the calendar, but for the timebeing I will be happy to manually add you. Just send me the details :)

Comments and suggestions welcome. Please leave 'em here

The Doubtful Guest Band

You know what it's like. You're looking through music profiles on MySpace and occasionally something jumps out at you. This is what happened when I clicked on thedoubtfulguestband. Now I admit, I'm not a huge fan of country, but I liked this band - they are more alt country, with a whole mix of other styles thrown in. "Head On Backwards" wouldn't be out of place on a James Taylor or Cat Stevens album, and if Dave Gilmour ever guested with The Eagles "What I've Done Wrong" would be the end result.
There are some great solid tunes here, from a Bath based band which won both Moles Battle of The Bands 2004 and the Porter Cellar Bar's Battle of the Muso's 2004. Check them out.

One Month Old Today :]

Ah yes, it's the end of the first month already. We have 84 members so far - an average of 2.8 new members a day :)

Thanks to all the current members, and especially to those posters helping to make BathBands a fun and useful place to visit. If you've joined, but haven't stopped by the General Chat forum yet, feel free to do so, say hello and chat nonsense.

Also, remember to tell your friends about us. The more active members we have, the more useful the community is for everyone.
